Farmers Market begins!

Good Morning!

Hope everyone will be out enjoying the B E A UTIFAL Michigan weather this weekend and hopefully we'll see you at the opening of the Downtown Gaylord Farmers Market on Saturday from 8am-1pm. The Rolling R will be there with some fantastic Spring Jams, Fresh Granola, Fresh eggs, Chives (for the eggs of course) and maybe some Baby Spinach. I'm sure there will be a variety of delicious home baked goods and other Spring fruits and veggies available from the many other farms and vendors!

Despite all the weird weather, I am proud to say the spring crops are looking FANTASTIC! The rhubarb has been plentiful (allowing for some serious jams and marmalades), the spinach is at baby leaf, the pea tendrils are starting to reach out, broccoli and cabbage have been really enjoying the light frosts, carrots are up, swiss chard is off to a slow start but I'm sure they'll catch up, lettuce and beets are thriving! Did I mention the potatoes? First batch: the plants are already 6 inches tall!

We'll be planting sweet corn, sunflowers, beans, oats and the majority of the the rest this week! It is so hard to wait for the first zucchini!

Pictures of the progress will be coming soon!

Off the gardens I go!
